John P. Marx Obituary
Wilmington - John P. Marx, age 83, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018.
He was born and raised in Longwood, PA, son of the late John H. and Florence (Peterson) Marx. John received his engineering degree from Drexel University, went on to attend Villanova, and then received his Master's degree from Widener University. He owned and operated ArtCraft Electric Supply for about 10 years and upon selling the business, opened up his own accounting practice, John Marx and Associates, PA - a career which he enjoyed for over 30 years. He was equally as passionate about the numbers as he was about the people he served.
In his spare time, John thoroughly enjoyed hunting (he was a champion trap-shooter and longtime member of Ducks Unlimited), boating, and deep-sea fishing. He also enjoyed playing golf at the Wilmington Country Club, and was an avid reader. He also loved to take his beloved corgi, Foxy, on long walks. Above all else, he cherished the time he spent with his family. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie Marx; his sons, John Jr. (Elisa), Jay (Liz), and Doug (Amy Benjamin); his grandchildren, John III (Marissa), Richard (Jennifer) Paige Smith (Matt), Nicole, Cory and Brandon; his two great-grandchildren, Tessa and Roman; and several members of his extended family.
John's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Christiana Care - at both the Wilmington and Newark campuses - for their exceptional care and compassion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00pm on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Road, Wilmington, DE 19807, where family and friends may visit beginning at 1:00pm. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory can be made to the Boys and Girls Club of DE, 669 S. Union Street, Wilmington, DE 19805 or to the Ministry of Caring, 115 E. 14th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
